The Campground roads and Campsite parking stubs are paved with asphalt, and each Campsite contains a Picnic Table and Fire Grate.  Firewood is available at the Campground.  Restrooms are scattered throughout the Campground and Hot Showers are available.

4. A Note About Food  -  -  -

Except for the free snacks mentioned in the
Rally Registration Fee section, all other food expenses are the responsibility of the attendees.  Sources of Food in the Park include:

*  Big Meadows Wayside Café and Camp Store - - 0.92 mile Walk or Drive from Campground

*  Big Meadows Lodge and Restaurant - - 0.17 mile Walk from Campground, 0.92 mile Drive from Campground

*  Skyland Lodge and Restaurant - - 9.29 mile Drive from Campground

*  and other Wayside Stores within the Park along Skyline Drive.

This is Bear Country; and deer, racoons, and skunks are also year-round residents.  Store your food out of reach.

Steel Bear Poles are planted throughout the Campground for storing your food in containers/bags away from the hungry animals.  Recent conversations with Park Rangers indicate that, when Bears appear at Campgrounds, the Bears are typically transported to a distant location in the Park and they normally do not return to the same Campground.
